Welcome to
Therapy with Kelly

A virtual counselling & psychotherapy clinic where you can feel understood, supported and empowered
Ready to start your journey?
I'm here to help

Hi, I'm glad you're here!
My name is Kelly McKay
I'm a Registered Psychotherapist
I believe that you deserve to feel capable, resilient and excited about your life - sometimes we know what we want but don't know how to take the next step
The truth is many factors out of our control such as trauma, genetics, cultural and social norms, the media, living environment and compounding distress from global issues impact the way we respond to and cope with stress
If you feel stuck, experience challenges with managing and responding to strong emotions, run into tension and conflict with others
and face cycles of beating yourself up, please know that this does not need to be something you "just get used to". There are alternatives
Imagine learning tools to be effective and skillful in navigating important relationships, conducting yourself assertively at work, setting unshakeable boundaries, building a meaningful home life based on your values and enjoying the safety and peace of a grounded, tranquil mind. Change is possible

I practice with a trauma informed and neurodivergent affirming lens
What does that mean? The "lens" I practice with is the philosophy that informs my work. I appreciate and am mindful of and sensitive to the ways trauma can shape our lives and ways of being. I also respect the wide range of neurotypes within the population and celebrate the differences that exist when it comes to thinking, understanding and expressing oneself.
What you can expect
when working with me
Learn About My Approach
I offer a collaborative, caring and whole person approach to psychotherapy. You can expect a warm welcome, as if speaking with a long time friend. I am not here to be the expert of your life, rather I am here to walk beside you to be your guide through life's difficulties.
It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that requires participation and investment from both the client and therapist. I am here to support you and get you back on track towards a satisfying and fulfilling life.

"When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another."
